Are You Tired Of Double Pushchair? 10 Inspirational Ideas To Bring Back Your Love

Which Lightweight Double Pushchair Should You Buy?

A compact double pushchair is easy to get around, particularly for families with children of different ages. They are easy to fold, steer and carry up and over stairs.

This City Mini GT2 offers side-by-side seats with plenty of legroom with adjustable reclining, as well as huge UPF 50+ canopies with windows that peek out. It also comes with frames that can be expanded in the width to accommodate an additional car seat or an additional passenger.

Side-by-Side

The majority of light double pushchairs we've tested are side-by-side models and they're generally best for children that can sit up unassisted because they tend to be lacking car seat integration. That said they do have a few advantages. Thule Urban Glide 2 Double and the Baby Trend Sit 'N Stand Double are both great options that provide recline that can be adjusted in both seats, a large canopy and padded 5-point harnesses. These are also easy to move around, despite their larger footprint. They are great for parents who fret about fitting through doors.

The Cybex Duet pushchair is unique because it features a unique frame that expands to accommodate an additional child seat. This makes it smaller than other pushchairs that are side-by-side. It can be pushed through standard doors and is easy to maneuver on public transport. It also doubles as a jogger which is great news for those who want to use it with an infant carrier or car seat. It's also available in a variety of exciting colors.

Another fantastic side-by-side light double is the UPPAbaby Vista v2 Double, which offers even more customization with a modular frame. It features a clever design that allows you to turn it into a single stroller or a double by incorporating two car seats or carrycots (it can even accommodate twins). It's a great option for families growing. The UPPAbaby umbrella stroller is also one of the lightest, sexiest and stylish strollers available.

If you prefer a more compact and lightweight double, you can try the egg2 which folds to the size of a compact suitcase. It can be used either as a double or a single by adding two baby car seats or carrycots. Our home testers were amazed by the ease of move around even with a full load of kids.

Double pushchairs with side-by-side seating aren't foolproof however -If your children are at the same age or stage they might be fighting over who rides in which seat. If they are at different heights, a tandem style may be best for them, as it allows them to face eachother.

Tandem

While side-byside models are more for children of similar age, tandem lightweight double strollers come with their own charms. They can accommodate a larger car seat, and some even have seats that can be reversible or a carrycot in the middle. They are generally more spacious and easier to access and exit from the baskets, though they are usually smaller than those on single buggies. Many also feature more generously sized canopies with peekaboo windows, as well as one cup holder for the parent and cushioned leg cushions for the little ones.

The iCandy Peach is another example of a great value lightweight tandem. The fabric is a bit less luxurious than those of some of our top-rated doubles. However, it looks stunning and is easy to use. Its one-handed folding is impressive. While  double pushchair from birth  requires some time to master, Kirstie from our Lab described it as "genius". It's not foldable without the carrycot attached, but the mechanism for attaching and removing it is simple and fast.

Tandem strollers that are lightweight usually make tighter turning than side-by-side models. However, they could be difficult to navigate on uneven surfaces and curbs. They are also slower to accelerate and are heavier to move. This can put stress on your back.

Another option is a convertible double buggy, which is initially a single and then you can add adapters that turn it into a double. It can have a second seat or carrycot on the front, or the children can be seated side-by-side. Some of them also offer the option of adding buggy boards, which can help an older child keep up with a younger sibling.

The Uppababy Vista V2 can be transformed into a twin-sized stroller by purchasing additional cocoons for PS59 each. These cocoons provide an open space for infants. These can be placed in a row or joined to one another, and you can use them with the baby car seat that is included with the pushchair (as as long as you choose an appropriate one). Since they are made of high-quality materials, these buggies with dual-use capabilities can be used for many years without showing any wear, indicating they have an excellent potential for resale.

Single-to-Double

This lightweight double buggy was designed for families who love to go on outdoor adventures and are looking to upgrade from an individual-stroller. It can be converted into a jogger using the kit that comes with air-filled tires as well as all-wheel suspension. It also handles rough terrain well and, as a tandem triple is ideal for twins or children of different age groups. It's also a great choice for parents who are looking for an elegant design that's as sleek as a single, and comes in a variety of fabrics.

This iCandy model is incredibly easy to fold using a single-handed system. It's heavier than other single-to double pushchairs, however our home tester Karolina says it's capable of maneuvering even with two toddlers and the carrycot.

The seat can be used with the parent facing and you can buy add-ons for this stroller like the Roma Gemini carrycots (PS100 each) which are great for infants. Our test panel found the seats were comfortable for toddlers and had good lumbar support and headrests. There are a variety of options for reclined seats and the front seat is can be adjusted to different positions, and the back seat having a reclining option.

This type of buggy comes with the greatest disadvantage of being a bit wider than the side-by-side doubles. This makes it difficult to maneuver through doorways, and it can be difficult to get between kerbs. The wheels and suspension of these models are generally able to cope with paved surfaces. They're also lighter than many side-by-sides and, therefore, you can get a lot of storage. These strollers can be difficult to maneuver in supermarkets with narrow aisles and they might struggle to carry a large amount. Even though it's easier to turn the stroller on a narrow, curving path, it can be a problem. Some are also easier to turn than others, such as the Thule Urban Glide 2 Double and the Baby Trend Sit N' Stand Double, for instance.

Convertible

The benefit of convertible double pushchairs is the ability to adapt to changing family needs. Often, they start as single buggies and include adapters that permit you to add a second child's seat or a carrycot (in some cases) an automobile seat to the frame. Some can even convert back to a single as your child gets older and starts to walk or prefers to ride on a buggy board.

One of the most lightweight double strollers on our list, this stylish tri-fold model can carry children up to 40lbs each. It also has a convenient basket that can be placed between the seats to store things. The large canopy with a peekaboo window, multi-position reclining seats and a front and back suspensions for smoother rides on rough terrain were appreciated by home testers. It also has a handy cup holder for the parent and a large easy-to-access basket. The backs have small pockets, which are just big enough to fit a phone and keys.

This high-end, lightweight side-by-side is available in more than 20 different configurations. It also includes a second chair and carrycot. It has a high-profile steering handlebar, front and rear suspensions to smooth out rough terrain, a compact fold that can stand on its own with straps for easy transport and seven-inch front wheels with swivel locks and 10-inch back wheels that have suspensions to ensure an easier ride. The only downside is that you'll need to purchase a separate car seat or baby carrier.

This versatile tandem is the most popular of our home testers because it is easy to maneuver and comes with a large basket for shopping that is accessible from both seats when they are in the parent-facing position. Its extremely light weight (about the same as single pushchairs) makes it a breeze to maneuver. Many have praised the clever way it connects the second seat or riding board at the back. Parents also appreciated the fact that it could accommodate infant carriers and car seats from a variety of brands, including some which aren't usually fit in other double buggies.
